Nasi goreng is an Indonesian national dish with fried rice. Traditionally, nasi goreng is prepared with meat or seafood. The ingredients of the paste such as tamarind, shallots and chillies give your dish a unique Indonesian taste. Indonesian Nasi Goreng Recipe (serves 4)
* 1 pack Indonesian Nasi Goreng Spice Paste
* 2-3 tbsp vegetable oil
* 250g (1/2lb) shelled prawns
* 2 eggs beaten
* 3 cups (600g) cooked rice
* 2 tomatoes, cut into eight pieces
* Chopped coriander, thinly sliced red chilies or egg sunny side up as garnish (optional)
Step 1: Heat oil in non-stick wok or pan on medium -high heat. Add prawns and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
Step 2: Push the prawns to the side. Add egg and cook for 1 minute. Add rice and Spice Paste. Stir-Fry for 3 minutes.
Step 3: Add tomatoes and stir-fry for 1 minute or until hot. Garnish.
Cooking tip: Beef, lamb or chicken may be used instead of prawns.
